As soon as the maintenance is complete, the forums would be reopened for posting.

Dear all,

We are finally back live with the forums !!!!

I thought I should just give you an update on the happenings of the last 2-3 weeks when the forums were down for maintenance & upgradation.

For unavoidable reasons, we were forced to change the web designing agency handling our website & the web host hosting our website. We also decided to shift to Windows ASP based forums from our existing PHP based forums. And it was a huge task !!

I would like to take this oppportunity to thank Sachin Korgaonkar, our Namdharak from Dombivli branch, who worked day & night (even on Sundays) in his after office hours, to migrate the forums to the new platform. And due to the absolutely different structure of these forums, he had to do the entire migration manually !!

However, certain issues continued to remain unresolved with the database structure of the ASP based forums. Towards the end of this entire process, we unfortunately discovered that the ASP based forums were not working as good as we expected them to. They lacked in features as compared to our PHP based forums, though they did look better than the PHP forums.

Finally, we decided that its best to abort the migration & instead upgrade our existing PHP based  forums.

And today, we have finally gone live with the upgraded version of our PHP based forums.....and we have also moved to better hosting servers !!!

In all this, I almost forgot to mention the new design of our website. The new look is also done completely by Sachin. I hope you all like the new design.

I once again take this opportunity to thank Sachin on behalf of all Namdharaks for his efforts.

And last but not the least, I also thank Kishore Shinde, our Namdharak from Charkop branch for co-ordinating the entire revamp. He introduced me to Sachin (who is his office colleague) & if it was not for him, we would have never been able to avail the services of Sachin !!

Going further, you can expect even further additions to our website, including the Marathi section which is still inactive, & also online shopping of books which is long overdue.

In our previous version, when we logged in and while going through the topics, all the attachments on that particular page were got downloded automatically.  This resulted in unwanted incoming trafic at user's machine and at the same time it was resulting in excess outgoing trafic on fourum's server.

This situation is now corrected in the new version.  Thanks to all team members.  This has helped me as i am using dial up connection.
