Hi Vaishali,

There is no need to concentrate. Just recite it. That's all! Let other thoughts come.

Thanks,
Amit.

Nice querry!! Cheesy
Actually, concentration is not at all expected while doing Naamsmaran or reciting prayer!
Satguru always stresses the point of "Anusandhan" while reciting prayer meaning taking "Bhaan" of "Self"  and the "Systematised order"...also, concentrarion is not the entry-point, but itz a fruit of reciting prayer!!

Dear Vaishali,

This helps me to concentrate when I am reciting the prayer- whenever I repeat the prayer loudly, all other thoughts seem to go away and my focus remains on the prayer. Try that. If I am reciting the prayer in my mind only, then thoughts tend to interrupt a lot. Hope this helps

Dear Vaishali,

I also remembered one more technique that helps me- I focus on listening to sadguru's voice on the prayer machine while he is saying the prayer especially at night before I fall asleep. This helps me concentrate on the prayer itself.

Dear Vaishali,

One more technique that helps me is visualisation- I try to picture sadguru's image or see a photograph of an image I have faith in and recite the prayer, sometimes I also write the prayer and read it while saying it,this helps my mind focus or concentrate on it better. Hope these tips help.

?सदगुरू आपल्या समोर असून तेच ती प्रार्थना सांगत आहेत (may be with the help of prayer machine as stated by Gargi) अशी भावना तू ठेवू शकलीस तर सदगुरूंचा प्रत्यक्ष सहवास लाभल्यासारखे तूला वाटेल.?

Ms Vaishali,
You may read Namacha Nandadeep for more details. It gives 11 ways of "Namasmaran" (Chanting/meditation). You may choose the one suitable to you for reciting prayer.

Best Regards,
Deepak

Ms Vaishali,

This is a problem of most of Namdharaks and new comers. I have seen few people writing prathana so that they will be on track. Try that if you can.

The chanting machine is one of the remedy on this problem too.

Dear Vaishali,
U have raised a vry nice question. I had similar problems in the recent past too. I tried out few things. Some of them have already been told to u in some replies.
One thing which I applied is that u hear the prayer there is a rhythum in it. Try to follow the rhythum while walking and while chanting.
If u listen how satguru says prayer there is an rhythum in his breathing also. Maintain the same breathing rhythum while u chant the prayer. It will help u in reducing the no of thoughts coming into our mind and simultaneously chanting ur prayers also.
Try it !! it will help u !

                     BEST OF LUCK !

U may try this out:
Just ponder upon what u r saying after u chant a single line of Prarthana n go on doing this every single line(it means 4 times in one prayer)
