Namonamah, In an attempt to understand the elusive JV terminology, I turned to the Smarani. I thought difficulties in translating it would provide a ladder to understanding, but I faltered at the first step itself! What does "Smarani" mean? 1. Is it meant as a small guide to commit to memory the essence of JV? Or 2. Is it a mechanism to perform naamasmaran?
I am inclined to think it is the first, but would request the enlightened to give their opinions.
Thanks and regards Milind Khadilkar

Namonamah,
As mentioned earlier, I feel an attempt at translation leads to difficulties which could in turn help in understanding (No proof!!)
Please consider my interpretation as an invitation, a request, to correct me.
Thanks and regards

Smarani 3 ३. Parameshwar is not an idol, nor is it a person. It is not even energy alone. It is Delight in its nature, Sensation in its form and Vitality in its essence.

Smarani 10 १०. ? That ?God is everywhere? is but a myth. What actually is everywhere is Vitality, which manifests itself as Life.

Namonamah, Sukhsidhhijee Namaste.
Thank you for your kind words, but kindly allow me a clarification. I do not have much command over the language, but I have gained some competence in the use of the dictionary and the thesaurus. That makes my writing artificial and to a large extent incapable of conveying the desired meaning. I am looking at "translation" as a way of correcting myself in this respect. In addition, I am looking at translating "smarani" as a tool to understand the JV terminology which even after so many months seems baffling to me. I am not adept at either adhyaatma or the granthic Marathi used in JV literature.
Such a shallow effort as mine will not bring out the true essence of JV and hence I refrain from offering my services at this point of time.
Thank you, again
Regards

Namonamah, Thanks, Vidyaniljee,
I would however still stay, that it is not "JVM English Smarani". I am not sure about the correctness and aptness of the translation. I have posted it in this form in order to elicit comment and effect improvements.
I am working on further quotations from the Smrani, and find it difficult. The main difficulty is understanding the text, for I find it difficult even to rephrase the text in Marathi with minimal use of technical terms (which I consider a first step in any translation).
I will keep posting as and when I feel I have progressed somewhat.
Regards.
